Motivation: An increasing number of enterprises have been involved in TQM projects, whereby the reasons and motivation for doing so were manifold. On the one hand, success stories of companies which gained significant competitive advantages by applying TQM principles have shown the potentials to industry leaders, and at the same time, on the other hand, customers are urging more and more companies to prove an ISO 9000ff. certification. The implementation of TQM was often related with an enormous personal as well as financial support. Nevertheless, some projects failed because of a lack of systematic guidelines and ended up with a huge quality handbook.

The objectives of the project was:

  • Consolidation of process management, including process review
  • Development of a methodology for a sustainable TQM-implementation
  • Guidelines for an efficient process management

Status of the project:

The project has been completed at the end of 1998. The final results of the project will be published in March 1999.
